Read it Twice
Amberleigh is definitely a keeper!

quilt art
An excellent investment for lovers of Amish quilts.Robert Hughes writes a concise history of the Amish people and their distinctive quilts. But best of all are the 9" by 9" full-color plates of 82 representative quilts. Julie Silber, who became the collection's curator in 1983, shares her comments on each quilt, pointing out its adherence to or deviation from Amish tradition.
This book represents an excellent investment for all lovers of the vibrant colors and intricate stitching so characteristic of Amish quiltmaking.

surprising compassion in coal country
Controversial but an enlightening and entertaining read.Having grown up near Ashland, PA I had an immediate interest to read a work by a local author about a local legend. I had heard of Dr. Spencer in hushed conversations of appalling outrage and contempt and I have also in conversations of heroic praise. I wanted to find out more about this "Angel" who dared take a stand and help women through a very difficult time. Meticulously researched and expertly told it is a stroke of luck to come across this text and hold it in my collection. Of all the biographies I have read, this work is one of the best. Genovese's use of descriptive prose and convincing speculation of events he could only imagine occurred is noteworthy of praise and attention. He portrays Dr. Spencer honestly and "re-members" him for the reader in such a way you feel like you know the doctor personally.
This work is for you if you have an interest in the stories and legends of the Pennsylvania "Coal Region". This work is NOT for you if you seek to increase controversy with contempt or without an open mind. Read it as a story of a man who dared make a difference and succeeded with great compassion and non-judgmental understanding at a time where a woman's only choice was a wire hanger and certain death.

PHILOSOPHY RETURNS TO EARTH!
Philosophy Quite Clear

Scary, creepy, and worth every pennyWhen I first read this book, it gave me goosebumps...in fact, every time I read through it, it gives me goosebumps...the artwork is simply astounding. Henderson is the best of the best: you ARE there when you are looking at his paintings...and these paintings are nothing less than terrifying in their realism. I highly recomend this book to anyone and everyone. Buy one. Buy tons, because this is the closest you will ever get to experiencing the K/T Impact Event.
ASTEROID IMPACT A SMASH!No one is better than Henderson when it comes to rendering dinosaurs and other Mesozoic denizens in their natural habitats, and this book contains what I consider to be some of his best paleolife work ever. Unsurprisingly, he also shows the same affinity and aptitude for astronomical art, presenting a series of awe-inspiring space scenes that simply boggle the mind with their artistry. He starts the 40-page book with several eye-poppingly beautiful scenes of life in Late Cretaceous North America and its environs just prior to the impact, then begins interspersing them with some of the best space art this side of Chesley Bonestell as he begins showing the asteroid's approach. When the mountain-sized rock finally comes hurtling through Earth's atmosphere and smashes into the ocean near what is now the Yucatán Peninsula, so precisely designed and brilliantly executed are the images that one has the overwhelming impression of viewing an actual documentary film of the event.
The book's text is no less an accomplishment, concise and intelligently written, unlike the (sadly) greater majority of cliché-ridden dinosaur books for children that inhabit bookstore shelves, volumes that impart little of real substance and uncaringly continue to perpetuate outmoded ideas. This is Henderson's second outing as writer/artist (DINOSAUR TREE, published by Bradbury Press in 1994, was his first solo effort) and the time and care taken to ensure that this book is accurate and accessible is evident on every page. At no time does he insult his young audience by "dumbing down" his text, yet another common complaint concerning the current crop of dinosaur books aimed at kids. Henderson presents his data in clear, simple language without sacrificing any of the underlying scientific content. A rare feat, and one to be lauded in an age where science, our one true connection to the real world, is all-too-often relegated to the background or, worse, ignored entirely in favor of mindless "entertainment".
Buy this book. Better yet, buy two. Give one to a child who'll appreciate it and keep the other for yourself.

Absolutely the Best Book for Beginners
This book helped me to see myself in a new light.

If this guy isnt your hero he should be.
Excellent

A joy to read and marvellous backgroundI bought this book for a close friend and fellow lover of Yeats poetry and read it after she did. Yeats writes about his life and philosophy with the same skill and breadth he brings to his poetry. I found the notes added for this edition both useful and interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Yeats, his philosophy, life and poetry.
This new, standard edition is the first to provide notes.

Just as good as live!It would be a real waste to pass this CD by if you're looking to improve yourself and your life and are on a spiritual quest, no matter what your religion. This is one of the ultimate self-help CD's that I've ever come accross.
Awakening God's Gifts - Excellent!!
